Our team loves designing celebrations that feel rooted in their setting. For Christina and Will’s wedding at the bride’s family home in Montecito, we created an equestrian-inspired garden celebration with a classic Ralph Lauren feel. We chose a palette of deep greens, crisp whites, worn leather, and brass so the estate’s gardens, ivy-covered walls, and the couple’s own equestrian pieces could take center stage.
The ceremony took place in the front courtyard, framed by tall palms and an ivy-covered garden wall. We wanted the aisle to feel as if it had always been there, so guests would feel like they were walking through a Montecito garden. Two lush columns of white florals stood on either side of the courtyard’s lion-head fountain, set against the existing ivy. Along a clean ivory runner, olive trees, lavender, trailing green amaranthus, and white blooms spilled from terracotta, stone, and weathered urns. At the home’s arched wooden doors, oversized urns of loose, airy greenery sat on dark green pedestals. Black bistro chairs kept the space crisp and let the greenery shine.
Christina’s bridesmaids wore mismatched gowns in sage, mint, and soft green, and each carried a simple hand-tied bouquet of white tulips. Christina’s bouquet was a textured mix of peonies, garden roses, astilbe, and lilac with variegated pittosporum and Italian ruscus. Will and his groomsmen wore tuxedos with white boutonnieres tied in leather, a quiet nod to the equestrian theme.
Cocktail hour leaned fully into the couple’s love of horses, with pieces from their own collection of equestrian gear placed across the lawn. The seating chart was displayed on a vintage wooden staircase wrapped in ivy, holding a cascade of silver and wood frames and grounded by white hydrangea, delphinium, and a well-worn leather saddle. More saddles hung over white paddock fencing alongside garden-style arrangements. A dark green bar with brass details, white and green florals, and horse figurines anchored the space. Guests gathered at seated cocktail tables with gingham linens and dark wood chairs, and the beer bottles carried custom “Mr. & Mrs. Busch” labels, a playful nod to the couple’s new last name.
Dinner was served under a greenhouse-inspired tent frame on the lawn, with olive velvet draping along the outside and twinkle lights overhead. The long wooden farm tables held low white and green centerpieces nestled in moss, along with green leaf-patterned chargers and natural linen napkins. The round tables were dressed in textured white linens with striped chargers, green napkins, and green votives for a pop of color. Every place setting had a menu sealed with a gold wax stamp, wood-handled flatware, and a velvet table number nearby. Pillar candles and table lamps filled the tent, and it glowed well into the evening.
Christina and Will, thank you for welcoming us into your family’s home. Celebrating with you there was something we’ll always remember.
This Montecito estate wedding shows how a couple’s personal passions, paired with a natural garden setting, can become a design that feels both timeless and entirely their own.
