Marni and Drew held their wedding at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito. As a Santa Barbara wedding planner, designer, and florist I worked with the couple to design an aesthetic that balanced the historic garden setting with modern, refined textures. We focused on a palette of white, beige, and slate gray.
The ceremony took place in the lower rose garden. We designed a lush arch of white and beige florals to serve as the focal point. To frame the entrance and add height to the garden space, we installed two large pillars of oversized olive branches. The aisle was lined with organic floral clusters, creating a natural path toward the altar.

For the dinner reception, we transitioned to the Veranda. We departed from traditional white linens in favor of gray velvet, providing a modern, tactile contrast to the garden surroundings. The tables were styled with hundreds of white tulips and table lamps, creating a clean and architectural look.
Following dinner, the Veranda was transitioned for dancing. We updated the overhead decor with dripping amaranthus and romantic draping. These vertical elements lowered the visual ceiling of the space, creating a more intimate environment for the evening’s celebration.

A San Ysidro Ranch wedding offers the opportunity to use distinct “rooms” within the property. Marni and Drew’s event demonstrated how a consistent floral palette—white and beige—can be elevated through the use of unexpected fabrics like velvet and structured blooms like tulips.
