Botanical Butterfly 8-Course Dinner at The Lark

Events

2021 was a huge year for our team – we planned, designed, and produced over 50 events, which is double the number of events we usually do.  With all the replanning, re-envisioning, and constantly-changing rules and regulations in regards to gathering, 2021 was our most challenging event season to-date.  At the end of the year, I wanted to celebrate our team and create a special celebratory dinner to appreciate them and their incredible work.
The dinner was a complete surprise – we invited our team  and their spouses to have drinks at Pearl Social and then we would have dinner from The Lark.   After drinks at Pearl Social, the waiter came and said our table at the restaurant was ready, and we brought the team into the Pullman Room at the Lark, where I had designed and produced a complete transformation.  Everyone was surprised!
I wanted to design a unique space that represented our year. I started with a base of dark colors, representing the beginning of 2021 when we were unable to work.  Then, I layered in florals and details on the table, representing the beginning of the year when we were able to produce small events.  Then, overhead and on the bar, I  designed wild vines growing on the chandeliers covered in tiny butterflies,  representing a burst of “new life” that we experienced this summer.   The butterfly is a universal symbol of new life, and it felt like the perfect way to represent this year.  I know that 2021 will always mark a year of significant transformation for me and my business, and we will look back to this point in time and remember how much things shifted.
I designed the room to have a long feasting table down the center, covered with onyx velvet linens from La Tavola.  We had black chiavari chairs as well, giving the base of the event design a clean, monochromatic, modern look.  On the table, we used detailed chargers from Theoni, gold-lace-trimmed napkins, and branch-inspired napkin rings from Theoni.  The table was lined with jewel-tone blooms and dozens of candles, including emerald taper candles.   At each place setting, we had candle favors with our company branding and also local chocolates wrapped in hand-made butterfly paper.
We enjoyed 8 incredible courses from the Chef at The Lark, enjoyed local wines and craft cocktails, and celebrated the end of a truly incredible event season.
