6 California Couples Tie The Knot in Serious Style: Kevin Delmore & Alex Hachiya

The connective thread of friendship runs through the courtship and union of Kevin Delmore and Alex Hachiya, who started off as work friends at Sotheby’s International Realty in San Francisco, where they are each real estate advisors, before growing closer during the pandemic. “Having the world slow down a bit allowed us the time to see where things went, and it ended up in our marriage!” says Kevin. When it came time to say I do, the couple wanted as many of their big respective groups of friends and family together as possible to help them celebrate their Memorial Day weekend nuptials.
“Alex is from L.A., and I’m from the Bay Area.” Kevin says. “Being a UCSB grad, I loved the idea of a Santa Barbara wedding, where our families could get out of town and meet in the middle in one of our favorite places,” he adds. To ensure their guests would arrive with friendships begun of their own, the couple chose Cabo San Lucas for their respective bachelor parties, renting houses 45 minutes apart, “each filled with 20 of our closest friends,” says Alex. “We came together for a joint pool party on Saturday, during which the two groups hit it off. So 60 days later at our wedding, people felt excited to reunite.”
The walkable weekend began with a family dinner at The Lark, followed by a welcome dinner at the Santa Barbara Wine Collective. The Saturday rooftop ceremony, officiated by Kevin’s longtime best friend Lane Stilson, took place at the Hotel Californian, with dinner and dancing in the hotel’s Martyn Lawrence Bullard–designed ballroom. The festivities concluded with a Sunday pool party.
“It all went by so fast,” Kevin recalls, “but Saturday afternoon, as we were getting ready, we were able to spend some fun time together in our wedding suite and looked down at State Street, where we were seeing our friends all run into each other, hug and get excited for the night ahead.”
